Locks of Love Moment

2008_0102_pony_tail004.jpgBecky didn't have enough going on with the baby and the moves, so she also grew her hair long for the Locks of Love organization to help weave wigs for cancer patients.

You can see the length of it here, and I'll have to get another picture at the shower this weekend.

P-ville

2007_1201_nyc_xmas_shop001.jpgJust needed to prove to people that we really live in a town called Pleasantville. If the Metro train has a sign, it must be real.

The View from White Plains

NYC from White PlainsWe moved. After 3 weeks of packing, loading and fixing, we hit the road for a late night trip to our new -- but temporary -- living quarters in White Plains. We have a swanky off-white apartment in a high-rise located right next to the train track. It's amazing how $%^& loud a train horn can be even from the 21st floor.

Mangini Hat

Mangini HatThis was a surprise gift from Melissa and Eric. Really Melissa probably should get the most credit since she had access to Jet's coach Eric Mangini, and players Chad Pennington and Laveranues Coles when they were on Sesame Street last week. The autograph reads, "To Fig, Thanks for being such a great fan, Eric Mangini."

So what if I'm 9 years older than Mangini, it's still cool.

Guy Weekend

Mets_NatsNoVA - Usually is called 'Guy's Weekend', but in this case it's just me. Becky went to visit her family in Pensacola, so I'm all alone.

So how's it been:
Day 1 - Mets at Nationals - Found great seats on the street for $15. Only thing bad is my terrific Nationals record (9-1) worked against the Mets.
Day 2 - Now this was a Saturday, so there was a threat that I'd get stuck to the couch, but no. Ready, I:
-- Went for a run
-- Cut the lawn
-- Fixed the shower door
-- Washed two (TWO) cars
-- Made a pizza
Day 3 -- Got stuck to the couch. I was sore from yesterday, so I'm updating this blog.

My hope is that no one stops by to say hi, and since that only happens during Girl Scout Cookie sales season, then I should be safe, because the house is a mess. I'll keep you updated if that changes.

No Door Prize

door leak
NoVA - We were planning on spending a quiet night at home yesterday, since this is our only weekend home in this six-week streach (Maine > Boston > Philly > NoVA > Newport > NY). Somewhere between the time I fired-up the grill and we were able to get the burgers out, a monsoon swept in. Because it's raining buckets, and I can't get my burgers grill, you think that's bad. Nothing.

Suddenly, water starts to pours through the molding of the doorframe that we spent $xxxx to replace last spring, and puddle in our dining room -- yes, this is in the house. The rain calmed and we managed to get some plastic sheeting around the outside windowsill.

This morning I tested the frame and found where the window and door frame had separated, so I just caulked and did more handyman tasks. Later I'll repaint and then cross your fingers.

We Have the Bag and the Blue Paw

Sea Dog BreweryMaine Coast - Today was the unplanned stops of our vacation:
1) Bangor, Maine -- We stopped at the Bangor Jetpark and they had Becky's luggage.
2) Topsham, Maine -- As we neared Portland, in the town of Topsham, I saw the sign for the Sea Dog Brewery, so we jumped off the highway so I could find the source keg of their Blue Paw beer. If there was a motel in eyesight we may have cancelled the Old Orchard Beach part of the trip, but after having lunch we set back on course.

It's My Birthday

my birthdayNoVA - I'm older. But at least I now have tickets to see the Met's on Aug 5 in NY. This trip was thoughtfully planned by my wife who bought the tickets awhile back, and she arranged it so we could stay with our friends Eric and Melissa. The beauty of the story is that Aug 5 is Eric's birthday, so we are using my birthday present to take him to a Met's game on his birthday. He's good.

Anniversary Day - Have a Double

Today was a double anniversary day. Of course the big one was that it was our First wedding anniversary, but it was also 2 years to the day since we left Boston and moved to Virginia.
