Charlottesville - Monticello

ALTTAGSOn Sunday we headed over to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's infamous home. In the picture on the left, Becky is holding up a nickel so we can compare the engraved Monticello to the real thing. Yeah there's not much to add. It was a nice fall day and you should see the pictures.

Charlottesville - Univ of Virginia Football

ALTTAGSThis as a fun day until we went to bed, and then it got bad. The fun was the football game and the time spent around campus and in downtown Charlottesville. I took about 200 pictures, and you can click on this flipping guy to see the good ones. UVA beat NC State in the game.

That was all fun, and then we tried to be grown ups and go to sleep early so we could get up early for Sunday's travels. Good idea? Sure, but the hotel's fire alarm went off around 2 am and we were kept out of our room for an hour because no one knew how to turn the alarm off. Misery.

No Buffalo > Annapolis and Corn Maze

ALTTAGS The plan for the weekend was to fly to Buffalo for Patrick's birthday, but they got a freak snow and ice storm. On Friday, Terry told us they had no power and were heading to Binghamton where it was a balmy 60 degrees. So we cancelled our flights and did two local trips. On Saturday we went to Annapolis with about a million other people, since Navy had a sell out and the Boat Show was in town.

ALTTAGSThis is a robotic scarecrow. It looked so freaky that when it looked at you, you felt like you were being watched. We just stared at each other. On Sunday, we headed into western Virginia and found a farm that had a corn maze, and a pumpkin patch. It wasn't better than watching football, but it was a nice thing to do. The highlight is that I learned how to make butter by hand, and I love butter.
